In the D7 README.txt (https://git.drupalcode.org/project/drupal/-/blob/7.x/README.txt) there is a link to the Drupal Trademark policy:

* Learn about the Drupal trademark and logo policy:
http://drupal.com/trademark

The link is not working anymore and it is currently redirecting to the Drupal.org frontpage. The link to the trademark page is also here: https://www.drupal.org/about/media-kit/copyright-and-trademark (see the green button).

Can we find out what happened to the full trademark policy page and fix it? I assume that it should be available somewhere, so people can read the whole policy. It was something like this: http://web.archive.org/web/20220804065539/https://www.drupal.com/trademark

Thanks!

Hmm, looking at that again, the link is poiting to the drupal.com, so maybe it will be out of reach for the d.o. moderators. It is here a better place to address this issue?

The link is also in the d.o. page footer, so I think it is important to fix this.

Title: Redirect Trademark page » Drupal.com Trademark policy not available
gisle’s picture

AFAIK, the trademark policy is documented here: https://www.drupal.org/about/media-kit/copyright-and-trademark

That's on drupal.org. Drupal.com URL's just redirects to the Drupal.org front page these days, so I doubt it shall be possible to put it back where those links point to.

These branches of core are affected:

https://git.drupalcode.org/project/drupal/-/blob/7.x/README.txt
https://git.drupalcode.org/project/drupal/-/blob/9.5.x/README.md
https://git.drupalcode.org/project/drupal/-/blob/10.1.x/README.md

Simplest solution is probably to update these READMEs to point to the right place.

Thanks @gisle, but on the page you have posted https://www.drupal.org/about/media-kit/copyright-and-trademark there is stated:

Although you are encouraged to use the Drupal trademark (and the official Drupal logo (official link to be included when released by the Drupal Association), which is itself a use of the Drupal trademark) for your own purposes, you must first obtain a license. You can either obtain this license automatically, or through a license grant procedure [as explained in the full trademark policy]...

Read the full trademark policy

That page only contains some parts from the policy and the link to the full policy is not working anymore). Also link in the Drupal.org footer is not working. I think we are missing the page with the full policy.

I am not sure if it is worth to update READMEs if we do not have the full text available somewhere.

Understood. I see that the big green box with "Read the full trademark policy" links to the no-longer working URL.

If nobody is able to locate the correct URL of the full policy, I think we need to get the DA onboard to find it. Postponing until they have found it.

I am reaching out to @Dries about this.

Per @Dries - added the statement directly to: https://www.drupal.org/about/trademark and updated the button: https://www.drupal.org/about/media-kit/copyright-and-trademark

I'll suggest he redirect drupal.com/trademark directly as well.

There are likely some other links that still need updating, so leaving open for the moment.

It seems like that the problematic URL http://drupal.com/trademark is now also redirected, so can this be closed as Fixed? I assume we do not need to change anything (like READMEs, etc..), as the redirect is in place.
