0️⃣ Who is here today? Comment in the thread to introduce yourself!Icebreaker: Which is the drink that will relax you the most? (edited)
| surabhi.gokte | Surabhi from India :wave:I LOVE cold coffee (not iced), and it is a drink that changes my mood for better always! 🙂 |
| smustgrave | hello |
| Björn Brala (bbrala) | Hmm, gin tonic, means there is a party going. Or perhaps some good whiskey on a cold winter night... hard choices  |
| surabhi.gokte | You can always depend on the weather and the mood  |
| Rosie Gladden | coffee for me too  (rgladden) |
| Fathima Asmat | Fathima from London, Tea for me, I'm up for as many cups a day :grinning: |
| surabhi.gokte | I like tea as well, but again, with milk and ginger :grimacing: |
| leslieg | Checking in late from Boston, MA area |
| gregg_marshall | Also checking in late. |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Kristen, California, catching up...For relaxation, red wine or a mixed drink like a Lemon Drop or Moscow Mule 🙂 Not sure there's a non-alcoholic drink that relaxes me but I enjoy coffee, black tea, and ginger drinks |
1️⃣ Do you have suggested topics you are looking to discuss? Post in this thread and we’ll open threads for them as appropriate.
| surabhi.gokte | Looking forward to DrupalCon Prague 2022. Who else is joining? |
| surabhi.gokte | Contribution Events Initiative at DrupalCon Prague 2022 |
| Fathima Asmat | I cannot make it this time unfortunately, any virtual contribution options? |
| surabhi.gokte | This can be discussed in another thread -> https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1663003014194619 |
| gusaus | Not sure if it's best to start new threads every meeting, but here are a few from last time that could use some additional input and/or help 📣https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1661835753367679https://d... |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Plenty of topics above 🙂 but there will be an informal remote aspect of contribution for BADCamp... I'll be helping on the Thursday |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Also, we had discussed maybe helping plan a #d10readiness porting event to coincide with DrupalSouth's contribution time but haven't heard any additional thoughts yet |
2️⃣ Are there any contribution events coming up that you know about? Regular events?
| surabhi.gokte | Contributions at DrupalCon Prague 2022 |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1663113068216509?thread_t... |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | For BADCamp, Thursday focus is #d10readiness (in particular, Feeds, but I'm sure open to additional contribution) and Friday focus is on Backdrop |
3️⃣ Did you participate in a contribution event recently? Feedback?
| smustgrave | bugsmash daily triage everyday |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | @smustgrave has been so smashing bugs!!! |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | I've been doing a bit of #bugsmash triage on my own, mostly coinciding with the biweekly meeting, but they have regular triage "events" |
4️⃣ Are you looking for a contribution event to help as an organizer, mentor, or participant? Or are you an event organizer that doesn’t have contribution activities yet and would like help?
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | DrupalSouth might want help with having a remote contribution event in parallel to their event without " people away from" the in-person aspect... TBD |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | BADCamp wants to some participation either remote or in-person |
5️⃣ raised by @surabhi.gokte - Looking forward to DrupalCon Prague 2022. Who else is joining?
| surabhi.gokte | https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1663003712741789?thread_t... (volkswagenchick) @Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) any suggestions around this? |
| AmyJune (volkswagenchick) | I do not have the bandwidth to add any thing extra to my to-dos. Virtual is NOT something the mentors will have the spoons for. .. we have too few to spread resources IMHO |
| surabhi.gokte | Absolutely, for virtual we can have other volunteers.@smustgrave @Fathima Asmat @spleshka (he/him) @kalabro @Tamsin Fox-Davies ^^ anyone interested to volunteer to organise the virtual one? (edited) |
| smustgrave | not done it before but can help where I can |
| kalabro | we will be at DrupalCon (in person), so I'm not sure if we can help with virtual one this time |
| surabhi.gokte | @smustgrave If you are interested, then help is all around 🙂 We have documentation as well as experience from last two D10 Porting days! |
| surabhi.gokte | @kalabro that’s no problem! Looking forward to meet you there 🙂 if you know anyone who might be interested please suggest (edited) |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) | I will check my slacks at drupalcon but anything in person takes preference, which I assume is true for everyone at the event. So I may be able to answer people with an hour or two delay. I don’t think its worth calling that hybrid. |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) | I think its safer to assume that whoever is at DrupalCon in person will be much less involved online, not more. Even at contribution day when they will sit at computers, people would prefer the in-person topics as they can move much faster. |
| leslieg | I will be concentrating on in person contributions for Project Browser as well, but do welcome virtual folks from joining in to help out on the initiative. I will try to post ways folks can help in the Project Browser channel ahead of time. Not sure how immediate my feedback will be while I’m at DrupalCon. |
| gregg_marshall | Amanda and I will be in person. |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | I won't be there in-person and not sure I will be doing "more contribution" during DrupalCon... probably just my usual stuff... I don't have the bandwidth this month to help organize remote events but probably can answer questions (in PST morning/afternoon/night hours) |
6️⃣ raised by @surabhi.gokte - Contribution Events Initiative at DrupalCon Prague 2022
| smustgrave | Not sure if it’s on the list but there are a lot of ckeditor contrib module that still need ckeditor5 love |
| surabhi.gokte | There was a minor discussion around Drupal 10 Porting third iteration to be done at DC Prague. That can be planned, it can be a hybrid. |
| smustgrave | Will people virtual be able to help |
| surabhi.gokte | Yes, we can plan it in a way that it is both virtual and in-person |
| smustgrave | Awesome! |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) | I don’t know how is this different from 5️⃣ but https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1663006442203669?thread_t... |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1663113900175429?thread_t... |
| surabhi.gokte | @smustgrave will you like to lead the online contributions with the in-person at DrupalCon in parallel? |
7️⃣ That’s all folks, thank you for attending💙The meeting is open for next 23 hours, let’s continue the conversation in the threads above. We also welcome feedback on the meeting structure and agenda via the Slack channel or issue queue!
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Thanks for running the meeting |
@gusaus had some topics for the meeting that were added later so putting them here...
8️⃣ From @gusaus Feedback on documentation from Open Collective and WordPress communities (edited)
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1661883971916839?thread_t... |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1662579497754979?thread_t... |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | I haven't had time to review these but would love feedback from others! |
9️⃣ From @gusaus Re-evaluating using Open Social for contribution events and if working on OS should be part of this initiative or spun off
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Thread from last time: https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1661887778816619 |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | TL;DR IMO Open Social focus should be a separate initiative or sub-initiative with its own lead(s)...We have found that OS isn't a great fit for single-focus remote contribution and, in the past, was used successfully for the BBB integration for remote DrupalCon contributions but there probably won't be more of these any time soonWhoever leads this would need to guide how OS is used for Drupal contribution and the community at large |
| gusaus | Pasting in a slight revision of the comment I left in [#3281963]I think we could run as a sub-initiative similar to how the Drupal Event Platform is project/initiative of EOWG. We could create a similar page clearly defining purpose, goals, & needs.Main difference would be the roles (we've on/off been defining in #3281981: META: Contribution Events Initiative roles and tasks) wouldn't necessarily be volunteer. While we might want to define roles in a way where newcomers 'could' volunteer to gain experience.... other high level roles (including mentors, program/initiative leads, project managers, docs leads, fundraisers/sponsor wranglers etc) should have the option of being compensated for their time. By creating a 'project' on the collective, we can manage as a stand-alone campaign.Considering @ronaldtebrake (Open Social), @hestenet (he/him) (Drupal Association, Funding module), @liberatr (he/him) (Funding module, Discover Drupal), and @Keegan Rankin (role TBD) are already providing advice/committing to some aspect of the project we already have a solid foundation for a team. With all that said, can we set up as a sub-initiative if we're able to assemble a team to lead? |
1️⃣ 0️⃣ From @gusaus Status of setting up Open Collective
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Thread from last meeting https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C03FH8GTB1A/p1661887858652419 |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Note that @Keegan Rankin offered to help with this so I created a Google doc for us to fill in the answers so we can get this over the hump... thanks @Keegan Rankin! |
| gusaus | Excellent! Wanna share the google doc here or in this issue? #3294434: Set up Drupal Contribution collective with Open Collective Foundation |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | The google doc is currently open to anyone editing so I'm not wanting to link here until I lock it down |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | I guess I could modify to just certain people editing but I need to know their gmail |
| gusaus | or maybe share with commenting enabled and interested folks can request edit access? |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Good idea |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | I'm away from my computer atm though |
| gusaus | Probably could have something submittable by end of week if we had access sometime tomorrow :raised_hands: |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Sorry, have been away from computer mostly... I updated it to be commenter for those with link so I'll need to add you both as editors: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TfD8lSSDyujTbIBNuJU4cr9ohAXsnzMn3IFB... |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | please request access or let me know your gmail addresses @gusaus @Keegan Rankin Thanks! |
| gusaus | @Kristen Pol (she/her) Thanks for putting together the doc and sharing :raised_hands:I'll make some comments/suggestions on the doc, but first wanted to make sure we're clear name.'Drupal Contribution Events Initiative' on the Google doc'Drupal Contribution' on [#3279806]Seems like there was some consensus around the generic name at the time.Thinking about this now, I think the name that implies a larger scope works. Especially when we consider there's a complimentary events initiative which probably still has quite a bit of untapped overlap in terms of shared goals and resources. That said, I think 'Drupal Contribution Initiative' would be a more appropriate name on the collective. What makes sense to y'all? |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Drupal Contribution was what was mentioned before. Maybe adding “Initiative” makes it sound more official and/or time constrained? |
| gusaus | Of course now I'm googling initiative :joy:The context is not quite the same, but it seems like it's on par with the larger/ongoing goals https://ca.indeed.com/career-advice/career-development/initiatives-vs-pr... initiative is a comprehensive plan for reaching strategic and long-term goals. It outlines how you want to achieve a company's objectives. For example, if a clothing retailer wants to expand its customer base, its initiative may raise brand awareness using social media marketing and targeted advertising. A strategic initiative can comprise multiple projects, and several initiatives may function together to reach a vision. |
| gusaus | Found a couple other Drupal initiatives on OC -Drupal Diversity & Inclusion Speaker Initiativehttps://opencollective.com/drupal-diversity-and-inclusion-speaker-initia... Recording Initiativehttps://opencollective.com/drupal-recording-initiativeI think this would be my vote -Name: Drupal Contribution InitiativeURL slug: drupal-contribution-initiative |
