The current implementation looks usable for end-users only when the component is the highest-level one. Using twig for embedding nested components is a show-stopper in this context. Do you plan to add a solution for this? Perhaps there could be a button in CKeditor, allowing user to insert embedded component via modal dialog?

You are correct. There are two plans that are not written down yet:

  1. Leverage the https://www.drupal.org/project/element_embed approach to use the WYSIWYG editor.
  2. Make what components are available as blocks using a configuration form.
