A few issues have been committed, but I think more work will come out of #3164404 before this is ready to be released.

@DamienMcKenna

Thank you for maintaining the metatag.

For #3164404: Rewrite tags testing architecture, the parent issue is targeting 2.0.0 #3272774: Plan for Metatag 2.0.0 If that's going to be addressed in 2.0.0., then what else stopping this release? Can you please advice?

However, Tests are internals as per core bc-policy, so #3164404: Rewrite tags testing architecture could go into the 8.x-1.x.

P.S.: I'm waiting for this release for #3286865: Automated Drupal 10 compatibility fixes

The testing changes will not go into v1 due to there being a few contrib modules that extend those tests. The last main change is the codebase tidying in #3305751.

Thank you! Looking forward to the new 1.x release

FYI the next release will hopefully be 2.0.0 (or 2.0.0-rc1 or something), but I won't rule out needing to do 1.23.
