1️⃣ Status and what's nextThis tread is for discussing the overall status of the Olivero initiative and where we're going in broad terms. We'll save specific issue discussions for later threads.

mtift The META issue is here: #3177296: [META] Make Olivero stable
mherchel So, we have a number of stable blockers that are RTBC (note that some in that issue have been committed earlier today). Things are looking really good there. Most of the remaining issues are easy(ish) CSS issues with contrast on hover.We also have a number of “should haves” that are RTBC and some of these will hopefully be committed today (currently on a mini sprint w @lauriii and @ckrina and @Andy)
mherchel We had a meeting several weeks back with XJM where she’s triaging our issues (making sure they’re sorted properly) and we’re still waiting for that to be finished. I’ll ping her at some point, but I want to respect her time
mherchel If I were to guess, I think we can definitely be stable within the next month, but it really depends on core committer attention (which I think we’re going to get, but we can’t be positive).
mherchel I also think that we can make stable by 9.3, but I’m worried about the triaging work, and I’m also worried that there’ll be a “swoop and poop” from someone that holds us back. We’ll see on that :crossed_fingers:
mherchel The issue though has passing tests, and should be good to go. Just need additional review on that one

mherchel We had @Mark Weiler talk about doing some additional a11y testing with JAWS in #3231345: Additional accessibility testing for Olivero header with JAWS screen reader. I’d love to see if anything is needed from us

Sarah Corbine There’s a mention here about removing the favicon code entirely. Thoughts? #3199421: Remove default favicon
Andy I’m curious about @mherchel’s take on @Indrajith KB’s link above.I’m starting to think it’s less and less worth implementing.
mherchel there’s people asking for it. It’s possible D10… but isn’t happening soon because we don’t want to make changes to config. Right now it’s low priority. But I especially want people who want this change to keep on commenting so I have a good idea on the feature’s popularity
