I needed this module to animate a few blocks but trying to enable it is asking me to enable Field Group of which I have nothing to do with Field Group module. Isn't that unnecessary or is the code dependent on Field Group module?

Hi @chike,
The field group allows animation over the group of fields through "manage display", Hence it's a required dependency of this module as per design.
