Drupal 9.2.x is fully tested and is compatible with PHP 8. |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
Drupal 9.1.x is compatible IF YOU USEcomposer install --ignore-platform-req=phpand is also not currently tested on PHP 8 |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
#3180207: Update laminas-diactoros, laminas-escaper and laminas-feed for PHP 8 compatibility is not yet backported to 9.1.x |
| hussainweb |
I managed to test this again manually and it worked well. This was my standard test with Umami and along with a few contrib modules such as pathauto, redis, admin_toolbar, etc. |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
#3098281: Ensure that 'composer update' evaluates dependencies using the correct PHP version is not backported and would be needed for testing |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
wait, that IS backported |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
so its only the Laminas issue apparently |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
the Laminas issue is debated in the committer team |
| larowlan |
Nice work all |
| andypost |
Btw core supports uploadprogress library which soon could be ready for 8.0,I expect issues because this subsystem still broken in core [#1561866]Ref https://github.com/php/pecl-php-uploadprogress/pull/5#issuecomment-73237... (edited) |
| andypost |
Btw CI containers needs bump for latest RC or wait til release on Wed |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
at this point the release is SO close |
| xjm |
@andypost Can you tag that issue for the 9.1.0 release notes (so we highlight it as a known issue) and release manager review? /cc @catch |
| xjm |
@andypost Are you saying that this issue will cause new bug reports with PHP 8, or that fixing it will address other existing bug reports from before? |
| andypost |
I mean a case of core has broken support for session progress implementation and php 8 pecl uploadprogress is not ready. so 9.1 on php 8 has no compatible progress indicators |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
@andypost but that is a missing feature, similar to not having the PECL extension installed on PHP 7 right? our feature detection falls back on not providing that feature then |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
I posted a rundown at https://twitter.com/gaborhojtsy/status/1326905891774476294 |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
almost all the BoF slots are open if we want to do discussions about specific Drupal 10 topics |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
Maybe @bnjmnm wants to do a BoF about jQuery UI stuff or @zrpnr want to do one about CKEditor? :slightly_smiling_face: |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
I think the contribution submission feature should be working but is not yet linked from https://events.drupal.org/europe2020/contribution (edited) |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
it would be great to have various contribution teams for things we want to do, like Symfony 6 (@longwave, @mkalkbrenner, @andypost may be interested?) |
| larowlan |
Is this in person event or online |
| dan2k3k4 |
@larowlan online |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
it is online, generally from 8am to 5pm GMT on the days of the event |
| andypost |
@Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) on my side there's high chances that I can get free for contributor day |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
@andypost woot :slightly_smiling_face: |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
#3161889: [META] Symfony 6 compatibility has not moved in 2 months |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
it would be great to find more people interested in this :slightly_smiling_face: @mikelutz (he/him) has a patch that produces a bunch of problems but those need to be broken out to issues for individual discussion |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
Symfony 5.2 is already RC so its deprecations should be fully defined |
| andypost |
https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C014CT1CN1M/p1606163953384800?thread_t... files for separate topic for attributesRef https://symfony.com/blog/new-in-symfony-5-2-php-8-attributes |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
Well, this is not about adopting new (especially not PHP 8 based) structures per say, but more like resolving any deprecations. |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
I sent @mikelutz (he/him)’s patch for a retest for now. |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
the Symfony 5 experiment patch did not apply anymore, so I manually rerolled it. Now it fails with a phpunit prophecy fail, not sure what to do about that one, but it at least applies and attempts to run  cc @andypost @mikelutz (he/him) #3161889: [META] Symfony 6 compatibility#comment-13915006 |
| longwave |
phpspec/prophecy-phpunit:^2 is required for phpunit 9 |
| longwave |
if you composer require that on your patch it should work |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
ah  |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
Included that but now it complains about some xml format with PHPunit. #3161889: [META] Symfony 6 compatibility#comment-13916762 |
| longwave |
that xml thing is only a warning and can be ignored, for now |
| longwave |
14 fails is not bad! |
| Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) |
Hm when I looked it did not look believable but maybe I looked at the wrong thing. On my phone now. Will check tomorrow :) |
