Problem/Motivation

To remove usage of deprecated code and let our tests pass on 8.8.x and above, we've had to jump through some hoops:
#3090175: Let tests fail on deprecation notices
#3089688-9: Make the build pass on Drupal 8.8
...

Proposed resolution

Remove all that technical debt once 8.7.x is EOL and we officially drop support.

Remaining tasks

  1. Wait for 8.7.x to be unsupported by core.
  2. Remove technical debt.
  3. See testbot happy, review, etc.
  4. Commit.
  5. Rejoice.

Title: Remove BC technical debt once 8.7.x is EOL » Require Drupal 8.8
Status: Postponed » Active

Let's do an April release that drops 8.7 support. I am tired of seeing the same deprecations patches posted in the queue every 2 days.

Hi, I looked at the patch and it looks like every 8.7 references or requirement is removed or set to 8.8.

KInd regards, strozx.

Fyi, there was a discussion about adding the zero at the end of the versions in the #d9readiness Slack channel during Drupal 9 porting weekend and the consensus was that it's best practice to leave off the unnecessary zero, e.g.

Instead of:

core_version_requirement: ^8.8.0 || ^9

you are encouraged to use:

core_version_requirement: ^8.8 || ^9

Similar to the change record examples:

https://www.drupal.org/node/3070687

I've reviewed about 50 projects so far and only one other project included the extra zero.

Hrm, the bot doesn't seem to show it since this issue is already Closed (fixed), but I pushed a trivial commit for this:

Thanks,
