Redirect not working when Path contains ("url")

Oddly "url/abc" as a redirect works fine for me, however I'm seeing the same problem for a different redirect.

/barn will 404 when I have created a redirect to another internal url.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem and I'm not sure what the pattern is for some redirects to not work.

I managed to find the problem I was having, so will post it here in case it's the same issue and may be of help. The redirect in question had previously had a piece of content with the same path generated by the pathauto module.

When the content was deleted, the pathauto alias was not getting deleted with it. As soon as I deleted the alias manually the redirect then worked.

The solution to stop it happening again was to update to the latest release of pathauto (1.5).

I'm sure there is a ticket on the pathauto module which fixed this, but I haven't been able to find it as of yet.

Perhaps the problem is related to Does not work for path alias issue. After applying patch #57 all links with '.../url/...' working fine for me.
