When trying to Bulk Generate /admin/config/search/path/update_bulk "User paths", it got stuck at 99.998% and the /admin/reports/dblog showed this warning:

Warning: max(): Array must contain at least one element in user_pathauto_bulk_update_batch_process() (line 175 of /.../public/sites/all/modules/contrib/pathauto/pathauto.pathauto.inc).

Saw similar issue in 8.x and the fix

Will attach a patch...

Considering this is a backport of a committed fix in D8 #2932432: Bulk Generate: ajax error due to warning for max() function, I'm setting this to RTBC.
