Please can you give more details as to why you think there is a bug. Your patch does not look at all the right thing to do in Scheduler.

I think that this is not a real solution for the problem, it's just something temporal. I think that the real problem is with the workflows module, because in the content form, there is still a tab to publish/unpublish the content, that with the module enabled for the content type does not work.

Hi gmrossello,
Thanks for the info. If the problem is with Workflow module then any code change should really be done in that module, and only when Scheduler is also enabled. That is quite a standard way to allow two modules to work better with each other.
The patch fails our testing, as you can see above. There are multiple exceptions:

Exception: Warning: Creating default object from empty value
Drupal\scheduler\SchedulerManager->publish()() (Line: 212)

HI,
Closing this issue as no activity for more than 3 months.

Given that the latest patch has 

$node->moderation_state->value = 'archived';

this looks like you are altering the Scheduler code to cope with Workflow and Content Moderation. Please see #2798689-193: Scheduler integration with core Content moderation from #193 onwards and also https://www.drupal.org/project/scheduler_content_moderation_integration
