FYI: Getting the confirmed users role will not give you the ability to contribute modules to Drupal.org.

In order to this, you must have Git access. There is a separate page about obtaining Git access.

Please see the page Become a 'confirmed' user for information on the role and how it is granted. After you have posted some content on Drupal.org this issue will be revisited or you will get the role automatically.
