Hello everyone @here! Welcome to our weekly Layout Initiative meeting.
This meeting:
➤ happens right here every Tuesday, 1pm ET / 10am PT / 17:00 UTC
➤ is chat only (no audio or video)
➤ happens in threads so keep an eye on those notifications
➤ there are 5 minutes between topics, sometimes more, for people who are multitasking to follow along.
The agenda issue is here: `https://www.drupal.org/project/layout_initiative/issues/2984730`

1️⃣ Introduce yourself if you are attending!

timplunkett Tim from Philly
imagineddesign Kelly from Chicago
mark_fullmer Mark from Tucson
sugaroverflow Fatima from space

jk Canada

tedbow Ted from Ithaca, NY
sugaroverflow ~haha there’s nothing on the agenda~ oh the agenda lies its all in tim’s brain
Tyler Fahey Tyler from Austin TX
japerry heyo
samuel.mortenson  from pdx
starshaped Aubrey from Boston, just lurking to learn more about Layouts :slightly_smiling_face:
eclipsegc Kris from OKC
johndevman John from Sweden
dyannenova Emilie, currently in Vancouver, WA

2️⃣ We've finally agreed upon an opt-in approach for Layout Builder, to prevent it from interfering with existing setups https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2936358

timplunkett This should allow existing sites to use LB without extra problems, and also make it easier for Umami
mark_fullmer I'd seen someone propose a contrib module that enables LB on all entities. Something like that (or at least enables it on all node types) seems like a good companion to this decision.
timplunkett Agreed!
mark_fullmer Would we entertain a LB-based admin/configuration page which controls where it's enabled?
timplunkett I thought about that, would need some UX input there
samuel.mortenson Content Moderation would be a great reference for that
samuel.mortenson You used to enable it on individual entity bundle config forms, but they moved it to one big form
Tyler Fahey That seems like a good paradigm for LB to me

3️⃣ Open floor! Either reply to this thread or start your own numbered thread.

mark_fullmer Just a quick update: https://www.drupal.org/project/layout_builder_restrictions is pretty much fully-baked at this point :+1::skin-tone-4:
tedbow @mark_fullmer nice!
tedbow still working on https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2957425

in review stage now

eclipsegc @tedbow how's this going?
eclipsegc sorry I've been so focussed internally lately, I really wish I were focussed on this instead
eclipsegc can it still make 8.6?
tedbow @eclipsegc I think it is going good. I hope so.
eclipsegc k
eclipsegc anything you need to make that happen?
tedbow getting review on the dependent issue now https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2976334
tedbow Wim reviewed that and seemed not to hate so thats good
tedbow these are on @timplunkett radar to review
eclipsegc ok awesome
timplunkett @eclipsegc review from you on that one would be great too
tedbow yep
tedbow @eclipsegc definitely would be great to get a review. just didn’t know if you had time.
eclipsegc on both? or the dependency?
tedbow @eclipsegc I would the layout builder one needs more of a review.
tedbow since the other has had more eyes on it
eclipsegc @tedbow ok give me the links of exactly what you want reviewed and I'll try to make it happen today
eclipsegc @tedbow pm them so I have them to refer to
tedbow @eclipsegc layout_builder one https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2957425

which is built on https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/2976334 (more have looked at this one)

tedbow will do

4️⃣ We have about one week until the 8.6 alpha deadline. `https://contribkanban.com/board/LayoutBuilder` is our list of priorities, if you want to add anything tag an issue with `sprint`
