Though I guess it to be out of scope, it would be a very sexy thing to be able to reference views / views displays too (see viewsreference).

IMO, this could be a submodule for https://www.drupal.org/project/viewsreference. We can extract a bunch of code from https://git.drupalcode.org/project/viewsreference/blob/8.x-2.x/src/Plugi... into a trait and then VRI and DERI can use them both.

If you agree then let's move it to viewsreference issue queue.
