(Fleshing out and confirming this issue)

If you modify the settings at /admin/config/services/social-media to enable or disable a block (I haven't tried changing other settings yet), but changes don't have an immediate effect. I needed to edit and resave my test node that has a social media field before a change was seen in the rendered node.

No patch prepared, sorry.
