When the image comes from non-ssl website the homepage returns the following fatal error:
GuzzleHttp\Exception\RequestException: cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate (see http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html) in GuzzleHttp\Handler\CurlFactory::createRejection() (line 187 of /var/www/drupalvm/vendor/guzzlehttp/guzzle/src/Handler/CurlFactory.php).

No, this is the wrong solution.

You're saying 'I don't care if the https certificate at the other end is invalid'

Instead, you need to fix your certificate authority configuration - see https://docs.bolt.cm/3.2/howto/curl-ca-certificates
