I'm one of the D8 accessibility topic maintainers. I need to keep an eye on anything with the "accessibility" tag, which is the preferred topical issue tag.

Earlier today I noticed an issue which was tagged with both "a11y" and "accessibility". It turns out there were less than 10 issues tagged with "a11y" and I hadn't known about them.

To make it easier for the accessibility maintainers, I've moved all issues tagged "a11y" to "accessibility", so the advanced search currently shows zero issues tagged "a11y"for any project.

The "a11y" tag still gets suggested in the tags autocomplete widget though. Can we remove the "a11y" tag from the vocabulary? That might decrease the chance of the alternative tag arising again.

This would be useful. Particularly since #a11y is used so much in twitter....

Removing this from the system would be useful to help people realize it isn't supported.

Or provide for synonyms.

I removed the a11y issue tag, since it was not used from any issue, but I could not set it as synonym of the other issue tag, as the UI doesn't allow me to set synonyms.
