Calendar

Immediately after installing the Calendar and Date modules I get a fatal error. Below is the error message.

Fatal error: Call to a member function override_option() on a non-object in /home/content/.../html/drupal_sandbox/sites/all/modules/calendar/calendar.views_default.inc on line 163.

I have never been able to get the Calendar to work even for a moment. Each time I install it I put it on a brand new configuration and it causes my site to stop working. I understand there have been some compatibility issues between Date and Views module so I have been waiting for them to reach Beta stages. From what I am reading there should be a way to get them to work. I am using the latest releases of View and Date and Calendar. Creating calendars is a critical element of my application and I am months overdue on getting started on this piece so I am hoping for a quick response on this. Thanks in advance for your help!
