Follow-up to #2061377: [drupalImage] Optionally apply image style to images uploaded in CKEditor 5.
Problem/Motivation
In the parent issue, discussion came up regarding site owners not necessarily wanting to allow all users to choose image styles for every uploaded inline image. Removing the choice from authors makes sense for simplifying usability, but that choice should still be available to some users. Other potential concerns include:
- Arbitrarily limit which image styles are available to authors, instead of blanket-allowing all.
- Vary available image styles by text format, CT/field, or role.
Proposed resolution
Add a default image style to the FilterImageStyle
settings form. Require administer image styles
permission to change it.
Allow selection of image style in EditorImageDialog
only if user has administer image styles
permission. Use configured default image style otherwise.
Remaining tasks
- Discuss desired functionality.
User interface changes
- A new selection for image style in FilterImageStyle settings.
- Image selection in EditorImageDialog and FilterImageStyle settings might be hidden depending on permissions.
API changes
None.
