When running this command:
composer drupal-update

It starts out with this:

Loading composer repositories with package information
Updating dependencies (including require-dev)
- Updating jcalderonzumba/mink-phantomjs-driver dev-master (10d7c48 => 5bf53fa)

But then crashes with:

[RuntimeException]
The .git directory is missing from /var/www/drupal/vendor/jcalderonzumba/mink-phantomjs-driver, see https://getcomposer.org/commit-deps for more info
rmation

I'm not sure that it matters, but this is happening while I am trying to install the address module.

I wonder if this is a problem with Drupal, or with the vendor in question.

This may be an issue for the composer manager queue because that composer subcommand comes from it, not core.

As an update, this also happened with 8.0.3 running: composer install , and the way around that for me was to run these commands:

rm -rf vendor/jcalderonzumba/
composer install

@tyler.frankenstein
The fix hasn't made it into a stable release yet.
