So tell me, what happens next with the module? It's a great module, but to be honest, it doesn't make the most stable impression. Or why is there so many years no beta, rc or stable version available? Because I think it's a important security module for Drupal.

What usually happens with modules like this, is that a client pays whoever for the port, which gets to an initial alpha, and then the client work is done. So the developers never come back to it. Some time in the field is needed to determine the stability before cutting another release.

Now that some time has passed, there's nothing wrong with contacting the maintainer and saying something like:

There are 645 sites now using this module for Drupal 8. If it makes sense, would you kindly cut a new alpha/beta/stable release?

If maintainers are too busy, consider offering to help co-maintain modules like this, and cut the releases yourself (if it makes sense given the current status: number of sites, items in the issue queue).

This module has a drupal 9 version and a new branch is in active development progressing towards stable.

With an alpha Status should be Needs review. Once stable released Status Fixed applies!

This module never had a stable release on Drupal 7. The requirement to have a stable release for Drupal 8 in order to remove a confusing message from the project page feels wrong. The only way to remove this message from the project page seems to be marked this fixed. As the maintainer of module I would like to remove this message.

Suggest to read the description of this project.

The only way to remove that is to relase a Stable !

@mmjvb but this makes absolutely no sense. There never was a stable release on Drupal 7

Also if this has no movement over years, is annoying the current maintainer and is confusing for people reading the project page?

A project maintainer should be able to opt from this.

Suggest to speak to the project owner. You are not the first maintainer to disagree with the rules. So far the rules didn't change. Feel free to raise an issue for changing the rules or changing the wording.
