Hello, I've just installed Commerce Coupon and while it's a great module, the "Add coupon" screen seems to be a bit light on help text.

In particular, the "Discount reference" field; it isn't immediately obvious what the field is or how I should use it.

I also don't understand what "Recipient" field is for.

If somebody could explain it to me a bit, I'd be happy to contribute by creating a patch with some help text added to the form.

Not Sure about the recipient field (Id guess that id for commerce_coupon_user)....
But I got stuck on what to do with the discount reference field too, so in case this happens to anyone else:
You have to create a Commerce Discount first, that the coupon will apply. see admin/commerce/discounts
