Karen, per #2491643: How should migrate_plus be split up? could you create a d.o project for this when it's ready? I'll be happy to be a co-maintainer.

Still needs work but moved to a separate project at https://www.drupal.org/project/migrate_source_json. I added Mike Ryan as co-maintainer.
