I am running some cron jobs, mostly leech on my drupal. Many times a day when the cron jobs are scheduled the load on server spikes by 1000% and shuts down the sites.
Is there anything I can do to the cron.php -- or if you some can help me solve this problem for $
Thanks.

A starting point...
The first step is to identify the culprit.
To see if it's leech, disable the leech module, then run cron from admin/logs/status. If your site doesn't eat itself, then it's leech. If not, there is some other module to blame.
Try that first. If it is leech, I'd suggest searching through the leech issue queue to see if you can find anything similar. Failing that, you'll have to have someone look at it. I'm currently very busy but I can probably assist you with this: feel free to use my contact form.
Thanks
