Using a subscribe field, I was getting watchdog errors 'An error occurred subscribing @email to list @list. "Merge field EMAIL required"'. The email value was populated in the message, but mailchimp obviously required it as a merge field. I've added a patch to set $merge_vars['EMAIL'] before a subscribe call, I can't see any harm in doing so - thoughts?

We're going to be ending support for the 7.x-3.x branch due to the upcoming deprecation of the v2.0 MailChimp API. If you're still seeing this issue with the most recent release, please feel free to reopen.
