When widget support was introduced, the following line of code was added:
$xpath = new \DOMXPath($dom);
under
function _mee_extract_widget_embed_info($dom) {

However because of the backward slash which is namespacing basically, the module now only works with php 5.3 or higher.

Since php 5.2 is not supported anymore, its not a big issue, however maybe this was not intended, and maybe its good to keep compatibility with php 5.2.

We can remove the slash in front of that function to fix the problem, however not sure why it was added in the first place.

It seems that we can easily remove the \ character before the function. As we do not use namespacing anywhere in this code, so there is no need to switch back to the global scope.

I guess this \ will be more relevant in Drupal 8.
