Roadmap for BACnet - D7 & D8
The BACnet module for Drupal has gone thru a lot of iterations to prepare for the stable 7.x-1.0 release. Early refactoring efforts focused on provisioning for the On-Line Demo. The features were then scaled back to expedite community review, meet evolving BACnet standards and improve the migration path to Drupal 8.
The goal now is to put the Demo features back in.
This "Issue summary" will be updated directly (rather than adding comments).
Help with Phase2 coding would be greatly appreciated! Simply clarify requirements as needed thru the various issues, then submit patches for review and testing by the OpenEnergy community.
D7
Phase 1: "Establish solid base module."
#2316443: Code Cleanup
#2319405: sanitize your data using check_plain for filter_xss
#2328715: Segregate Module Functionality
#2329219: BACnet Demo
#2335581: Phase 1 Cleanup review items for Stable Release
#2337583: Supporting future BACnet standards
#2319391: refactor bacnet_soap_get_value
#2343079: Promote sandbox to project
( Note: Inclusion of additional features was frozen while project application was under review. Work on Phase 2 items can now proceed as patches, but every effort must be made to attain the same high coding standard of Drupal prior to inclusion into base code.)
Phase 2: "Refactoring and new features."
#2760965: Add hook_libraries_info
#2339321: Add BACnet Views
#2340187: New BACnet Demo
#2320543: Include Basic Content Type with Module
#2329205: BACnet Site Map
#2318873: Add in BACnet Vendor ID
#2319123: Add an advanced help feature for setup
#2335819: Testing BACnet module
D8
Initially, Phase 1 & 2 above focused on implementing BACnet Web Services 1 (SOAP) into a Drupal 7 module to facilitate easy setup of Energy Dashboards. However, BACnet Web Services 2 (RESTful) has undergone community testing during 2014-Q2 with 5 manufacturers participating. Community reviewers felt strongly that the new BWS2 functionality should be incorporated into the Phase 1 implementation to facilitate early testing prior to any D8 release. So we merged both BWS1 and BWS2 efforts into the stable 7.x-1.0 release.
D8 development is now proceeding to support data transfer with both new and existing BACnet Web Servers.
