Integrate with social networks

I'm looking at using Follow for that. Thoughts?

Ideally, that would be a documented recommendation, perhaps with a feature to enable some selected, supported ones, but in general leaving the choice of module to each site builder, not adding any new dependencies. I would not like to be forced to use one particular social media module just for Pushtape.

But nice if we can use this issue to discuss various options and recommendations, listing pros and cons here.

There are many such modules out there, and they seem all to need some help to iron out "issues", whether they are bugs or design limitations or inconveniences. If we can make a list of desired functionality (with arguments, use cases, etc.) here, maybe we'll get momentum for practical adjustments to some of those modules.

Yeah, Follow is indeed pretty easy and works. However, I ended up doing some trivial custom code for my site so I could do the icons via a sprite, customize the title attributes on the links, etc.

I agree we shouldn't re-implement this directly inside Pushtape. If folks want this, they should just deploy their preferred solution (custom, follow, other).

I'm leaning towards "won't fix", or yeah, treat it as a documentation request.

The Follow module looks like a good solution for the original request in this issue. I like the idea of a "Recommended modules" list, or preferably a configuration recipe for step-by-step instructions on how to solve a particular problem.

Where shall we put this recommended modules list? On the project page? Want to make me a co-maintainer? I can edit the node, even without that if you want. ;) Or is there a handbook page somewhere about Pushtape?

@dww The project homepage makes sense - I've added a "recommended module" section, thanks. There is also a Pushtape documentation handbook, for future reference. I think we can mark this ticket as fixed.
