"Method 1: Bootstrap Source Files
Download and extract the Latest Bootstrap (https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap/releases) source into your new sub-theme."

"you will need to un-comment the appropriate lines for your desired method in your sub-theme's .info file."

Here's the subtheme's info file:

; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; ;; Scripts
; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
;
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/affix.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/alert.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/button.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/carousel.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/collapse.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/dropdown.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/modal.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/tooltip.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/popover.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/scrollspy.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/tab.js'
; scripts[] = 'bootstrap/js/transition.js'

Why i have to uncomment this? In downloaded source files (bootstrap 3.1) there's not a single js file which matches these in info file. It is a bug?

Figured out. Please mention in a documentation, that you have to download not dist version of bootstrap source files.

Title: subtheme with method 1 documentation is wrong » Change sub-theme documentation to have "advanced" section instead of "methods"
Version: 7.x-3.0 » 7.x-3.x-dev
Category: Bug report » Support request

No, the dist version is the compiled source. Method 1 is for the actual source download: https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap/archive/v3.1.1.tar.gz (or https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap/archive/v3.1.1.zip)

That being said, I think the entire documentation needs to be refactored. We should get rid of "Method 1" (source) and "Method 2" (CDN, which is actually the default).

Instead we should offer an entirely separate section for "Advanced Bootstrap sub-theming" where compiling is involved.
