I have several views of type Content each with the relationship Content: Taxonomy terms on node.
I use Content: Nid as a contextual filter.
I create a views display of content pane and pull the view(s) into pagemanager.
All was well until I performed the security upgrade from ctools version 7.x-1.3 to 7.x-1.4.
Now when viewing the panel page I get this error message:

Warning: Missing argument 4 for entity_metadata_taxonomy_access() in entity_metadata_taxonomy_access() (line 784 of /home/wcmadmin/public_html/sites/all/modules/entity/modules/callbacks.inc).
Notice: Undefined variable: entity_type in entity_metadata_taxonomy_access() (line 785 of /home/wcmadmin/public_html/sites/all/modules/entity/modules/callbacks.inc).

This message is repeated for every view of the type described above I pull into page manager.

(I also received the following message: Strict warning: Only variables should be passed by reference in ctools_entity_from_field_context() (line 179 of ctools/plugins/relationships/entity_from_field.inc) but this was fixed by applying the patch from https://drupal.org/node/2195471).

I'm getting the same error after upgradering to 7.x-1.4
Everything worked fine in 7.x-1.3

As far as I can see it does not have anything to do directly with the views on the panel.
- I deleted all views, error still occurs.

I tried removing the panel contexts relationship i have on my panel variant, 'Taxonomy term from User' and the error went away, but that breaks the view of course.

(Tested as drupal user1)

I am also getting this error.

Strict warning: Only variables should be passed by reference in ctools_entity_from_field_context() (line 179 of /usr/www/users/mysite/sites/all/modules/ctools/plugins/relationships/entity_from_field.inc).
Notice: Undefined index: access callback in ctools_entity_from_field_context() (line 180 of /usr/www/users/mysite/sites/all/modules/ctools/plugins/relationships/entity_from_field.inc).

Not sure if this is not recommended, but I overwrote the previous 1.3 entity_from_field.inc file with the 1.4 entity_from_field.inc and all seems perfect for now.

Having a similar problem after the security update, though only one error, 'Notice: Undefined index: access callback in ctools_entity_from_field_context()'. As in comment #3 I also copied previous entity_from_field.inc file into updated directory to 'fix' but am hoping this didn't a) compromise the security update, or b) possibly introduce new problems. Anxiously awaiting an approved solution....

Same error as reported by OP. Reverting to v1.3 resolves the issue and upgrading to v1.4 causes the issue to appear again.

There is a related issue to this over at Drupal Commerce: https://drupal.org/node/2196003

It looks like this is a result of contextual relationships.

here are the error messages:

  • Warning: Missing argument 3 for commerce_entity_access() in commerce_entity_access() (line 973 of /var/www/sites/all/modules/commerce/commerce.module).
  • Warning: Missing argument 4 for commerce_entity_access() in commerce_entity_access() (line 973 of /var/www/sites/all/modules/commerce/commerce.module).
  • Notice: Undefined variable: entity_type in commerce_entity_access() (line 977 of /var/www/sites/all/modules/commerce/commerce.module).

https://drupal.org/node/2195211 resolved the 'Warning: Missing argument 3 for commerce_entity_access()' for me.
