I think Angie's videos need to be on this page:

I'm not sure which is the best one, but they are a way nicer introduction to the broader community than the Groups pages.

Can we pick a good video and feature it prominently on the /community page?

I think it would be great to have better content on that page, and a video is not a bad idea. In order to accommodate wider use of videos on Drupal.org, the Content Working Group has been working on some policies. Please feel free to weigh in at https://drupal.org/node/2174451

Thanks!

Now we've got a policy on videos. Can we add one of @webchick's videos now?

I'm recommending this one here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvV38nJObIE

I agree that the last one is the best one for that page. It combines technical quality and her awesome presentation and is the most recent.

Is there any conceivable reason why this simple request has taken so very long to get implemented?

Does someone thing it's a bad idea? Is there a better video out there? I'm curious as I really can't see a reason why this isn't just implemented by a content person....

After watching the recommended video, if it's a fit for a page now, it seems a better fit for /getting-involved. Because of the ways it focuses on defining contribution more than offering a representation of the community. I.e., its primary theme isn't "These are the Drupal community's demographics and these are the places you can find its contributors"—the latter being the central idea for /community.

Though, it also feels much more like a note to our community and others (e.g., be careful about creating leaderboards) than a note from our community to people considering becoming part of it. Hence, the title ("How to create...").

But if you're still a +1 on this, I can find out what it'd take to restructure /getting-involved. (Doesn't seem like I can edit that page.)

They are just examples. This issue is over 2 years old. I don't really care too much about which videos go were. As long as they are prominent and we change them up every now & again we should be good to go.

Sometimes it feels like people are building a bridge rather than a website. If we move it to /getting-involved and folks start saying it would be better in /community we can just move it.

Anything to take these dry, boring, un-compelling, text heavy pages and bring them to something that reflects the dynamic, fun, human-centered organization we actually are.

This just seemed like an easy win 2 years ago.
