When inserting text in front of the first media, text is automatically deleted by TinyMCE, but only if the media was created in the first place before you enter the text.

Detailed description:

  1. Insert picture or video as the first element in the body field using the media browser button
  2. Then try and insert text above (or in front) the picture or video
  3. When you hit save the text inserted is automatically deleted

Some additional info: If i follow point 1-2-3 and then I disable html editor I see this:

<p>&nbsp;</p><p><!--MEDIA-WRAPPER-END-1--></p>
