It would be useful for cron to clean out events once they have happened. I would suggest a setting for Event to clean dates after 'n' days:
-1 - first cron run after the event
0 - never
10,20,30,60,100 - days

I have not found this in the feature list - maybe it is too late to ask for it in 4.6.0?
