Authentication failed - check username and API key

I am getting the following errors despite using correct username and API key:

Authentication failed - check username and API key
Could not run backup because the file could not be saved to the destination.

I downloaded the php-cloudfiles from https://github.com/rackerlabs/php-cloudfiles because it was not available on the link given by the module.
