Adding the data alteration "index hierarchy" with the hierarchical field book gives me the following error when indexing non-book nodes:

EntityMetadataWrapperException: This node is no book page. in entity_metadata_book_get_properties() (line 24 of .../sites/all/modules/contrib/entity/modules/callbacks.inc).

Using the RESTful Web Services module bug #1806142: EntityMetadataWrapperException: This node is no book page as a model, I created a patch which catches this exception.

This patch works for me. When is it going to make it into the current version (i.e. the one you get when you go drush dl search_api)?
