I setup a iCal feed with WordPress and liked how it worked until I realized wordpress isnt what I need. im very confused on the views things.

What I want, in a block, is a display like this..
Upcoming Events

* Wed, Oct 31
o 8p - Halloween Bash - Cosmo Lounge - DJ Kelso
* Fri, Nov 23
o 11:30p - Blu Sushi - DJ Kelso

Its for my site, and this will work better than showing a calendar with the day underscored. Any ideas how to acheive this? Ive been playing with views but have since just gotten frustrated.

I your calendar is displaying events from the Events module you can turn on the "Upcoming events" block via the UI at:
Home › Administer › Site configuration › Events > Event overview

As for changing the layout of the information, I am not sure if "Upcoming events" is themable.

I think, if you are using another type you'll have to build something. Maybe a queue of some type.

Either do what is suggested above (if these are Event module dates) or create a calendar block view for your dates, and in the administration configuration area you'll see where you can adjust calendar settings. There you can set the calendar up to display a list instead of a calendar.
