hey guys,
I need some serious help because I completed a clean install of drupal on my site, but for some reason creating the first account doesn't give me admin privileges.
I create the account, it sends me the password, I use it to access the account, but it keeps telling me I have no privileges to do admin stuff.
How can I fix this please somebody???
I've been fiddling with the database table itself for a while, changing the data fields for the row whose uid=1 to match the user I want to be admin, but that doesnt seem to work. Can anyone please help me out?? I'd really appreciate it.

The admin password is
The admin password is displayd on the page right after you create the first account. Did you use that?
What exactly do you try to do, and what is the exact error message you get?

i try to click on the 'edit secondary links page' and all i get is 'access denied', 'you are note authorized to access this page'.
You need to use uid=1 first
Fiddling with tables is not the best way to go here. You don't have to do any of that.
Instead, log in under the very first account you created, the one with uid=1. Then you can create other accounts and use admin/users to assign them privileges. The first thing I did when I set up Drupal was add an "Administrator" role with all privileges checked, so I could give other accounts that role.
If you've been messing with the tables, you might want to nuke your database and start over.
