The wording you mentioned has been corrected. RDFa is not considered important going forward with Google, read http://www.lullabot.com/articles/location-location-location-seo-google-p...

Not everyone can use Varnish because that's at the server level. Boost does create problems for some people if it interferes with certain other modules, but it is more accessible to install. My recommendation is to pay for quality hosting that offers server-side caching and speed and avoid Boost.
