http://drupal.org/project/video_filter_field adds a bunch of functionality especially if the patch I added here http://drupal.org/node/1372502 is committed. I really dont see why they reside as two seperate modules though and think they should be merged into one. What do you think?

Seeing both modules, I was thinking the same thing.

Actually, thinking it may be better to support Drupal Core Links field module. That module already has options for link validation and such... maybe have an option to enable Video Filter and assume the links are to online media content.
