Translateble options' values and field descriptions

Could someone guide me how could i implement that? Simple adding t() function to '#description' => $field['widget']['description'], expression in optionwidgets.module helped me in translation of options description. But i couldn't find the place to add t() to make the options values to be translatable. And the question is, how could it be done more centrally? i mean, may be one could hack some code in content.module to make those to be translatable.
