Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Looking at http://drupal.org/node/717120 and sub pages, there's quite a lot of info under the D6 heading which applies to both D6 and D7. There's also some D7-specific info missing: The new menu settings per content type (ref. #1018184: Please review "Add a link to a menu" (Drupal 7), comment 7), maybe other stuff?
Related issues: #677186: Content Types handbook page needs D7 update and #977220: Document D7 core provided content types for updating the content type page here: http://drupal.org/node/21947.

jn2 CreditAttribution: jn2 commentedI've edited the page for Content types to include D7. AFAIK, there are no pages on d.o. for Article or Basic page. I left out the link for those headings pending creation of an associated page(s).
I see a need for at least 3 more pages to address D7 content types. One higher level page under "Structure Guide/Working with nodes, content types and fields", and two child pages, one about the Article and Basic page types, and one about settings other than fields. The settings might need more than one page. Is this the kind of thing I should go ahead and add, or does it need discussion with the team, either here in comments or on IRC?
The Contributed Modules link leads to a page noted as being reorganized and moved. Not sure where this link should lead.

so the basic page and article ones aren't quite the same - all those other ones link to the page for whatever module creates that content type. but in the case of these two, it is just the install profile creating the content types (so no module page to link to). so i think that it's fine like that, not linking to a page with more extensive information about those two. (it's already clearly written there that it's created by the install profile - if anything you might want to link to some more info about install profiles.)
under article: "Articles are generally used for information whose relevance decreases as time passes (such as news items), so that newer Articles will typically be placed higher on the page than older Articles." -- it's not quite right to say that relevance decreases as time passes, since that only applies in some use cases. instead maybe: "Articles are generally used for information that is updated more frequently and often cross-referenced and categorized (such as news items or resources). By default, Articles are sorted with the most recent post at the top, but this can be customized with contributed modules like Views[link]."
for contributed modules... i'm not sure if lee's planning on removing that page altogether - we could just link to the modules page in the download and extend section for now http://drupal.org/project/modules
great work!

jn2 CreditAttribution: jn2 commentedThanks, arianek. Excellent suggestions. I changed the link and incorporated your suggested edit into the page. Over at #677186: Content Types handbook page needs D7 update, I marked the issue fixed.

jn2 CreditAttribution: jn2 commentedReading zirvap's original issue post again, I returned to the content type docs to see how many of the D6 content type pages also pertain to D7. She's right, a lot of them do.
Arianek, what do you suggest?
jn2 CreditAttribution: jn2 commentedUnassigning myself. This issue needs attention from others to be fully resolved.

you mean blog, book, etc? if so, those are all core modules, so those docs are part of updating the core module pages #674474: Review and update D7 core module handbook pages - most of them are done but still need a bit of work. so if you want to follow up there, that'd be great.
if that's the case, we can close this issue. but if it's something else that i'm not aware with, please give me an example of what needs work/updating. thanks!

zirvap CreditAttribution: zirvap commentedThere are some pages that are common (or could, with some rewriting be common) to D6 and D7, but which currently are placed under the D6 heading, have /6/ in the URL and have the docs input format:
http://drupal.org/getting-started/6/admin/content/types
http://drupal.org/getting-started/6/admin/content/node-settings (or maybe write a new D7-specific one)
These could, I think, just be moved up to be common to D6 and D7 (but may need rewriting on the way):
http://drupal.org/node/176252
http://drupal.org/node/320614
Maybe http://drupal.org/node/302317, or maybe just write a new D7-specific one

arianek CreditAttribution: arianek commentedthose first two i've updated to make editable by anyone (no need to make them docs format) - once they're updated, i can update the url aliases appropriately.
definitely, ALL docs pages should be updated to cover d7, so feel free to update any as necessary or at least make sure all the page status notes are up to date (ie. "needs updating", version numbers, etc.
