We launched this baby about a month ago. It is build to Connect German Canadians in Vancouver, Victora and elsewhere in British Columbia. Most of the modules are default (some hacks here and there).
The only real custom module is a Yellow Pages Business Listing Module that allows organizations to list themselves on the site. I roughly connected it to the PayPal subscription service to charge members a small monthly fee. We got close to 40 listings in the first month which I think is pretty good.
I did a mini custom hack for phpList, which is now powering our newsletter. I didn't parse it into a module, but rather installed the default phpList and added a couple of DB queries during Drupal registration process to add the info needed to the phpList database.
I am looking forward to the e-commerce module so that I can add that to the site and stock it with goodies from local stores that cater to my audience.
