Top-20 most downloaded Drupal projects

I compiled a list of this month's top-20 most downloaded themes and modules. It doesn't necessarily mean that these projects are the top-20 most used projects, but it does give a good indication of what people are looking for, or what sparks their interest. I'm sure we can draw a number of valuable conclusions from this list. Anyway, without further ado, here is the list of the top-20 projects ...

Gnomedex 2005 report from the floor

Myself and the rest of the Vancouver Bryght crew are at Gnomedex 2005. I was very excited by the news that Dave Winer's new tool, an OPML editor, is going to be released under the GPL. I'm hoping that the Drupal community can do some exciting work with Dave, and have Drupal be a great server component to his desktop tool.

Microsoft also had some announcements. They're building RSS into lots of different areas in Longhorn, the next version of Windows, and demo'd IE7 with RSS built in. As well, James Walker is actually in progress adding vCal entries as enclosures to the events module -- this will generate a format that will work with Longhorn automatically, and Drupal will have it ready to go just days after this major announcement.

Drupal Newsletter for June, 2005

Welcome to this month’s Drupal Newsletter! Last month, Drupal.org released Drupal 4.6.1 which fixed a serious security vulnerability. All users are recommended to update .

Of course, the Drupal community can’t always have their nose to the grindstone. The Bryght guys proved that with their “boot camp” photos.

Also, we’d like to welcome Drupal creator Dries Buytaert back from Chicago. He has a photo gallery of his trip here.

We wanted to make this month’s issue the best yet, so we’ve made various changes to this month’s newsletter. We’ve got a new layout thanks to Chris Messina (who is now working at Round Two ) and many new tips and tutorials from new contributors.

We also have a new events section, where you’ll be able to find all upcoming Drupal relevant events in a glance.
As always, we’re a community newsletter, so feel free to contribute and make Drupal Newsletter even better! (click on the "read more" link to read the full issue)

DrupalED: Drupal for education

DrupalED Proposed Logo

Travis Christopher has done an awesome job of designing an initial Drupal for Education (DrupalED) logo. Want to give feedback? Head on over to DrupalED.org.

What is DrupalED? Well, it's aim is to be a central gathering space for efforts around using Drupal in educational settings. Short term goals are to gather requirements and recommendations for different modules and configurations, with the long term goal of having downloadable install profiles for different types of educational uses, from primary school to high school or post-secondary. More input and contributors are welcome!

Drupal leaflet/pamphlet design: call for designers and writers

We are in need of a new leaflet/pamphlet design for OSCOM, etc. We've run out of the current design, and rather than print a large amount of a slightly outdated information booklets, it has been decided that an entire new design will be made, complete with new text and appropriate screen shots.
The goal is for people to "see" themselves using Drupal. We're calling all Graphics Artists and Wordsmits to look at existing resources and make the best info source any CMS has (we are the best, right? Right!)
