All's good now!
After a few (re)settings everything went well.
BTW, I'm not sure if this is relevant but I was wondering if the setting to 'not cache pages with errors or Drupal messages' might have been contributing here.
I had the setting checked and I'm wondering if having an active Drupal message was preventing boost from caching URLs > thus giving the error because I'm watching the counter > thus preventing caching > thus causing the drupal status message > etc.
Seems like it started to work after I un-checked the option and saved the settings but that may have just been coincidence.
I installed your patch anyway and the boost settings page seems to work OK with it.
Don't know if that counts as enough 'review' to set to 'reviewed'.
Anyway, thanks again for an awesome module, you've just made things a whole lot better. . .
