The only 'widgets' available to me for node ref fields are 'checkbox/radio button' and 'autocomplete text field'. I would expect that dropdown list ought to be on option, but it's not. I have the all of the basic cck 6.x.2.0 types enabled except for content copy, content perms, fieldgroup. I've searched widely for a solution to this, and amazingly find almost nothing that directly addresses this issue. There are many references to dropdown lists with cck; but not so many, or any, with node reference fields. I can't fathom why selection lists would offered and not dropdown lists; there is nothing esoteric about dropdown lists. Is this a bug in the new cck?

pengi commentedI was wrong; select list is there as an option and that's what I was looking for.
I walked right past it - the widget combo is not enabled until one set note ref in type of data to store; and then the top entry is "Select List". I always interpreted that as "Please select a list" not "select list aka dropdown list".
