Yes, the MR needs to be reviewed, then the issue set to RTBC, hoping that a maintainer is then going to merge the MR.

This module isn't working on my site as I don't have the medium image style. Can we get this merged or can someone direct me on how I can patch this as this is a MR and not a patch!

OK managed to patch it using the plain diff. Can confirm this MR fixes the issue I'm having.

jurgenhaas, thank you for the MR. I've successfully applied it and incorporated it into both the 2.0.x and 1.0.x branches, ensuring a Drupal 8 and Drupal 10 compatible release of the module.
