Currently, I have my local machine setup to mirror commits to the GitLab repo to Drupal.org, and run robo to do the subtree split and push to all the modules.

It'd be better if GitLab CI could do this automatically when commits are pushed to 8.x-2.x, because then anyone could do it, and it wouldn't be all up to my local machine.
