i sent this in as a feature request, but wanted to get thoughts from the forums too:

my fellow admin and i were discussing how it would be great if, when an item is submitted to the queue, you could post comments about it, for all the people able to see it before it is officially "published". once it is all set to go, and is added into the main body of the site, those comments would be scrapped. just think it would be a nice feature, especially if the content is designed more as something that needs to edited instead of just approved.

Very good idea,
The system today is ok if your'e the only editor/moderator of content. What You're suggesting would make it a "workflow".

Such a workflow could later be made configurable so that an organization could set up a set of rules - with copywriters, editors, researchers, editor in chief. AKA a publishing system workflow.

yeah, we are trying to make a site where writers will submit and article and we need at least 2 if not 3 or 4 people to read it before it is approved. its fine right now, cause most of us go to school together, but if/when that changes, the ability to post comments would be real helpful...

This is a very advantageous offer.

It seems illogical that the new submissions can be viewed by regitered users but the comments cannot be added. As a user with limited time, I would rather read a post once (even before it is approved) and comment straight away than wait for the approval in order to comment.

On the other hand, on small web-sites there is no point in expecting people to comment on the usability of the post instead of commenting on the topic of the post. And it commenting on the topic of the post is more intuitive. There is needed an explanation in BIG letters that all the comments will be removed once the post is approved.

R.
