Spring Cleaning

It is important to keep in mind that generally, the more code that needs to be loaded, the more resources it takes. It is a good practice to review the modules that you use on your site on an annual basis, and see if there are any that are no longer needed.

Image support

Drupal Core's image support can be improved with Easy Responsive Images. This module can provide additional configuration options. Also see this content on Responsive Images.

Try Alternatives to Google Analytics

Consider using something other than Google Analytics. Aside from the privacy aspect, GA can significantly slow down a website and reduce user experience. There are well supported modules like Matomo and Plausible which will suffice for most sites.

Support Dark Mode

Pick a theme that supports Dark Mode like Gin. Dark mode should be a choice, and people should still be able to use light mode.
