Usage
Before you can use the Group Invite functionality you need to install and configure it. You can do so at the group type content plugin screen, visit the documentation page for more details.
Inviting members
There is an option to invite one user at a time and one for multiple users at once. Upon sending the invitation the email text that will be used is the one that you configured when you installed the functionality for the group type.
Access to invite members is controlled per group type based on the Invite users to group permission. E.g. granting this permission to group members allows them to invite other users to become members.
One at a time
You can use the Invite user link in the Group Operations block to invite a single user. You can reach the same page by visiting /group/<id>/content/add/group_invitation or navigating via the Invitations menu tab.

Multiple at once
You can also invite multiple users at once, this is particularly useful when you want to invite a lot of (new) users to the group. Via the Invitations menu tab, use the Invite Group Members button to get to the screen where you can enter the email addresses or usernames of existing users.

In the next screen you will be able to enter multiple email addresses or usernames of existing users, split by line. Submitting will lead to a confirmation screen, which will then process the invites via the batch system.

Managing invites in the group
As a group admin (or a user with the right permissions) you can manage the invites for your group by visiting the Invitations menu tab or by visiting /group/<id>/invitations.

The invites overview shows you the contact details, invite details and the option to revoke the invitation. If the user is not yet registered to the platform the Invitee column displays Anonymous (not verified), for existing users it adds a link to the user page.
Managing invites for a user
Users can manage their invites at /user/<id>/invitations. Here they will see an overview of open invites. At the Operations column they can choose to either accept or decline the invitation. Both will lead to a confirmation page.
In the case of acceptance, this confirmation page will include any field present on the Membership group content entity: this way, you can let the user configure its own membership (i.e select their role or add some additional information) just by exposing some filters to the form display.
In upcoming versions it will be possible to skip this confirmation page (see 3191496) in case you don't need it.

Once you accept the invite you will become a member of the group.
If there are pending invites the user will see a notification message upon login. It contains a link to their invites overview page.
